Football Game Preview: Edna Cowboys vs. Columbus Cardinals

The Edna Cowboys will take on the Columbus Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Edna is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Llano 41-14. Given the Cowboys' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 347th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Columbus faced off against Franklin on Friday. Columbus blew past Franklin 62-42. Winning may never get old, but the Cardinals sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.

The win keeps them at an undefeated 14-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 46.4 points per game. As for Columbus, their victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-1.

Edna ended up a good deal behind Columbus when the teams last played back in September of 2021, losing 40-21. Can Edna avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
