Softball Recap: Millry Picks Up Fifth Straight Win at Home

There's no place like home for Millry, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. Everything went their way against the Fruitdale Pirates on Thursday as the Millry Wildcats made off with a 14-3 victory. Considering the Wildcats have won five contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Millry pushed their record up to 8-1-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Fruitdale, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Millry Wildcats challenge Thomasville Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fruitdale, they will take on Washington County at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. Washington County has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.56 runs per game on average), something Fruitdale will no doubt try to take advantage of.
