Basketball Recap: Pleasant Grove Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Westlake

On Friday, Pleasant Grove faced Westlake in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Pleasant Grove Vikings took a hard 80-62 fall against the Westlake Thunder. The Vikings were probably out for revenge after losing 70-67 to them when the teams met back in February of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Pleasant Grove lost, don't look at Ty Palmer. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 13 on his way to 15 points. That's the most points Palmer has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Anderson, who posted nine points.

Pleasant Grove's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Westlake, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pleasant Grove will host Skyridge at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Pleasant Grove's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three games. As for Westlake, they will welcome American Fork at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. American Fork has insisted on making their lastfour contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 3-1 during that stretch of close contests.
