Softball Preview: J.F. Webb Warriors vs. Vance County Vipers
J.F. Webb hasn't had much luck against Vance County recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The J.F. Webb Warriors will be playing at home against the Vance County Vipers at 5:00 p.m. J.F. Webb has given up an average of 11.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
J.F. Webb is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 17-11 margin over Vance County on Tuesday. With that victory, the Warriors brought their scoring average up to 7.7 runs per game.
Terrie Thornton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

In other batting news, Simone Ovando was incredible, getting on base in four of her six plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Makayla Jennings was another key player, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
J.F. Webb always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
