Baseball Recap: Lenawee Christian Comes Up Short

Lenawee Christian had lost five straight at home, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 5-9 to make it six. They came up short against the Summerfield Bulldogs, falling 13-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Cougars have suffered since April 26, 2024.

As for Summerfield, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-9. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Summerfield's part, Jude Flowers made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Flowers was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Summerfield is undefeated when Flowers posts two or more stolen bases, but 4-9 otherwise.

In other batting news, Rylee Schiffler was a standout: he got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Russell LaRocca, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.

As of now, neither Lenawee Christian nor Summerfield have any future games scheduled.
