Volleyball Recap: Fairmont Comes Up Short on the Road Against Pender

Fairmont kicked off their season on the road on Monday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Pender Patriots, falling 3-0. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.

Layla Hunt and Jerrian Taylor certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. Hunt had three digs and three aces, while Taylor had 14 digs and two assists.

Jensen Bordeaux had an outrageously good game for Pender as she had 38 digs, six kills, and three aces. Those 38 digs gave Bordeaux a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Eden Gurganous, who had 27 digs and two aces.

Looking ahead, Fairmont will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Purnell Swett at 6:00 p.m. As for Pender, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Wallace-Rose Hill on the 12th.
