Softball Recap: Lugoff-Elgin Comes Up Short

Lugoff-Elgin's last matchup with Catawba Ridge could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's matchup on Friday. The Lugoff-Elgin Demons came up short against the Catawba Ridge Copperheads, falling 18-0. The Demons were not able to make up for their defeat to the Copperheads from their previous meeting back in March of 2023.

Lugoff-Elgin saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carley Bell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one double. That double marked the first that Bell hit this season.

This is the second loss in a row for Lugoff-Elgin and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Catawba Ridge, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.

Coming up, Lugoff-Elgin will challenge Sumter at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Sumter's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Lugoff-Elgin's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Catawba Ridge, they will square off against Legion Collegiate Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Legion Collegiate Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
