Recap: The Classical Academy Titans vs. Berthoud Spartans
If The Classical Academy Titans were riding high off their 62-35 takedown of the Elizabeth Cardinals last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Classical Academy fell 53-46 to Berthoud on Saturday. The Classical Academy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Berthoud apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why The Classical Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Avian Mersereau. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Mersereau pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Osterloh, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Berthoud's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ryan Callies, who scored 11 points. Reece Stratmeyer was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
The Classical Academy now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Berthoud, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3.
The Classical Academy will head out on the road to square off against Falcon at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Falcon will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Berthoud, they the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Resurrection Christian at 7:00 p.m. on January 18th.
