Baseball Recap: Smith Academy Wins Going Away Against Commerce

Smith Academy won the last time they faced Commerce and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Falcons blew past the Raiders 17-1. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Falcons.

Nate Maloney made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Callan Payne was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Oscar Higuera, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Smith Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Commerce, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Smith Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Commerce, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Sabis International at 4:00 p.m.
