Softball Game Preview: Woodland Regional Hawks vs. Tolland Eagles

The Woodland Regional Hawks will square off against the Tolland Eagles on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Woodland Regional is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. They never let Watertown get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. The Hawks' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

Ella VanAlstyne was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kate Lisowski, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Angelena Tottenham, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Woodland Regional kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 27 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Tolland made easy work of Norwich RVT on Wednesday and carried off a 13-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Woodland Regional's victory bumped their record up to 25-0. As for Tolland, their win bumped their record up to 16-5.
