Basketball Recap: Francis Scott Key Takes a Loss

Francis Scott Key lost against Catoctin back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Francis Scott Key Eagles took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Catoctin Cougars. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Cougars 18-11 in the first quarter.

Catoctin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kayden Glotfelty, who posted 13 points. Another player making a difference was Brooke Williams, who put up 12 points along with six blocks and five boards.

Francis Scott Key has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 17-9 record this season. Catoctin is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season.

It'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Eagles duke it out with the Owls at 5:00 p.m. on March 3rd. Westminster will roll in looking for their 15th straight win, something Francis Scott Key surely won't give up without a fight. As for Catoctin, they will face off against Williamsport at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Williamsport sitting on four straight victories and Catoctin on seven.
