Baseball Preview: Christian Brothers Cadets vs. St. Dominic Crusaders
The Christian Brothers Cadets will square off against the St. Dominic Crusaders at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Christian Brothers gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Gateway Legacy Christian Academy, sneaking past 4-3. The win continues a trend for the Cadets in their matchups with the Lions: they've now won four in a row.
Brady Rallo looked comfortable as he pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
At the plate, GT Taylor was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.
Meanwhile, St. Dominic had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over Howell Central.
St. Dominic also got a great performance from Trey Peroutka as he struck out six batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those six strikeouts gave Peroutka a new career-high.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cooper Montgomery, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Daniel Henke, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
