Basketball Recap: Manzano Takes a Loss

Manzano was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They were dealt an 81-44 defeat at the hands of the Atrisco Heritage Academy Jaguars. While losing is never fun, the Monarchs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Jaguars are ranked 13th).

Manzano's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Bryce Johnson, who went 6-for-11 on his way to 17 points, and Broden Price, who posted nine points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Price a new career-high in boards.

Manzano's defeat dropped their record down to 6-18. As for Atrisco Heritage Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season.

Manzano has already played their next contest, a 48-39 win against Capital on the 19th. As for Atrisco Heritage Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 69-56 victory against West Mesa on the 18th.
