Basketball Recap: Arianna Blue's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Adams City over Gateway

Adams City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 40-37 heartbreaker at the hands of the Gateway Olympians. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Eagles have suffered since December 5, 2023.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Arianna Blue, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave Blue a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Evelyn Reyes, who posted two points along with 13 boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, Adams City smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive boards. This was only their 14th loss (out of 18 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.

Adams City's defeat dropped their record down to 4-19. As for Gateway, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season.

As of now, neither Adams City nor Gateway have any future games scheduled.
