Buchanan has gone a perfect 8-0 against Kingsburg recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Buchanan Bears will be playing at home against the Kingsburg Vikings at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Buchanan is looking to give their home crowd another W after opening their season at home on Wednesday. They never let Edison get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Bears in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won six in a row.
Brooklyn Ainsworth made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only a hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Ainsworth was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
In other batting news, Jayda Magdaleno was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Natalee Gant was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Meanwhile, Kingsburg beat Clovis East 10-5 on Wednesday.
Like Buchanan, Kingsburg also got a great game from a two-way player: Alyanna 'Yaya' Gonzales. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off ten hits. Gonzales was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two doubles and two RBI. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sarah Urbieta, who went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Reygan Jones, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.
Everything went Buchanan's way against Kingsburg in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, as Buchanan made off with a 14-0 victory. Does Buchanan have another victory up their sleeve, or will Kingsburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
