Basketball Game Preview: Borger Bulldogs vs. Hereford Whitefaces

Borger hasn't had much luck against Hereford recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Borger Bulldogs will head out to challenge the Hereford Whitefaces at 7:30 p.m.

Borger is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fifth straight game on Saturday. They lost 69-48 to West Texas. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1229th, while the Comanches are ranked 285th).

Despite the defeat, Borger got top-tier performance from Tahqulin Brooks, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 15 boards. That was a full 50% of Borger's points, marking the seventh time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Elijah Guerrero, who had 12 points.

Meanwhile, Hereford waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 67-59.

Hereford is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. As for Borger, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Things could have been worse for Borger, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 62-44 loss to Hereford in their previous matchup back in February. Can Borger avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
