Baseball Recap: Bellevue Comes Up Short

Bellevue extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 5-10 in the process. They lost 11-0 to the Highlands Bluebirds. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 8-0 to the Bluebirds when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Highlands, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-5-2 record this season. Considering they have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Highlands' part, Patrick Davidson tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Davidson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Highlands let Adam Forton and Nolan Schwalbach run wild. Forton went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Schwalbach went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most RBI Forton has posted since back in March. Sully Wiswell also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bellevue will host Dayton at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Highlands, they will welcome Boone County at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
