Softball Preview: Johnstown Sir Bills vs. Galway Golden Eagles
The Johnstown Sir Bills will head out on the road to challenge the Galway Golden Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Johnstown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Johnstown turned things around against Northville on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-5 victory over the Falcons.

Brynn Williams made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Williams wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mia Iorio, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one double. Iorio has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Maddie Feehan also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Galway lost 19-10 to Mayfield on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Golden Eagles have suffered against the Panthers since May 4, 2018.
Galway's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 11-3. As for Johnstown, their record now sits at 2-10.
