Recap: Lamar Silver Foxes vs. Hemingway Tigers

The Lamar Silver Foxes's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 52-41 defeat to Hemingway. Lamar found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 15 to 7 on offense.

Lamar's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of NyShaun "Shaun" Quillen, who scored eight points along with five rebounds, and Jacari Mitchell who scored five points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Xavies "Zay" Tedder, who scored eight points.

Omarion Burgess continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hemingway, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Those 22 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Romance Hanna, who scored nine points along with three steals.

Lamar bumped their record down to 1-10 with that defeat, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Hemingway, their win ended a ten-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-13.

Lamar will take on East Clarendon at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. East Clarendon has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1. As for Hemingway, they will head out on the road to face off against Berry at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
