Basketball Recap: Hawken Takes a Loss

Hawken was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their 23rd straight loss dating back to last season. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-32 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cardinal Huskies. While the Hawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Huskies 15-6 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Hawken still got an impressive performance from Cami Courtad, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 15 boards. Those 14 points gave Courtad a new career-high. Sasha Miller was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, Hawken smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Hawken's defeat dropped their record down to 0-16. As for Cardinal, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-10.

Hawken didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-52 win against West Geauga on the 31st. As for Cardinal, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 42-38 victory against Garfield on the 1st.
