Volleyball Recap: Coal City Comes Up Short

Coal City lost against Morris back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Coalers took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Morris.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-23.

Riley Walker paced Coal City's offense, picking up four kills. Walker got some help from Sydney Larson and her ten assists.

Alyssa Jepson was the offensive standout of the game as she had 11 digs and three assists. That's the most assists she has posted since back in October of 2024.

Coal City's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Morris, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Coal City will be taking part in a tournament against Yorkville Christian at 10:20 a.m. on Saturday. As for Morris, they will take on Lisle in a tournament on Saturday.
