Basketball Recap: Hemingford Comes Up Short

Hemingford was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 45-42 heartbreaker at the hands of the Morrill Lions. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bobcats have suffered since January 17th.

Morrill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Katelyn Walker led the charge by putting up 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Walker a new career-high in assists (three). Another player making a difference was Madisyn Carrizales, who posted 12 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Hemingford's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Morrill, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Hemingford wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 33-29 win against Bayard on the 7th. As for Morrill, they have also already played their next contest, a 41-39 loss against Kimball on the 7th.
