Soccer Game Preview: Union Grove vs. Franklin

The Union Grove Broncos will face off against the Franklin Sabers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Franklin will be up against a hot Union Grove team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Broncos' defense stepped up to hand Waterford a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. Ruby Christiansen had the honor of scoring the game-winner for Union Grove.

Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 1-1 at halftime, Franklin was not quite Kenosha Tremper's equal in the second half on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, Franklin can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin soccer rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Kenosha Tremper are ranked tenth).

Union Grove pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those four matches. As for Franklin, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2-2.
