Basketball Recap: Sparta Takes a Loss

Sparta suffered their biggest loss since January 10th on Friday. They came up short against the Norwood Pirates, falling 63-43. The Trojans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Pirates apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Autumn Gunter was nothing short of spectacular for Norwood: she went 6-for-10 en route to 18 points and five rebounds. Gentry Davault was another key player, putting up seven points in addition to nine boards and six steals.

Sparta dropped their record down to 12-9 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Norwood, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 19-5.

Sparta has already played their next contest (against Seymour), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Norwood, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 64-22 victory against Gainesville on the 17th.
