Baseball Recap: Maeser Prep Academy Wins Going Away Against Freedom Prep Academy

Maeser Prep Academy won the last time they faced Freedom Prep Academy and things went their way on Friday too. The Lions blew past the Eagles 22-4. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Lions.

Corbin Turner made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Maeser Prep Academy let Jonny Mitchell and Tom Jackson run wild. Mitchell went a perfect 1-for-1 with four runs, two stolen bases, and two RBI, while Jackson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Mitchell a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Sollami, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Maeser Prep Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .579. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .371 or higher in eight consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Maeser Prep Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Freedom Prep Academy, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.
