Softball Game Preview: Monument Valley Mustangs vs. Holbrook Roadrunners

Monument Valley is 0-5 against Holbrook since April of 2017 but things could change on Saturday. Monument Valley will square off against Holbrook at 12:00 p.m. Monument Valley is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Monument Valley's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Many Farms with a sharp 17-0 win. Considering the Mustangs have won five contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Adrianna Dominguez made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Hailey Etsitty was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Nannabah Haskan, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two runs.

Monument Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. The last time their batting average was this high was back in March of 2024.

Meanwhile, Holbrook fell victim to Winslow and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They came up short against the Bulldogs, falling 9-0. The Roadrunners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Monument Valley's record now sits at 6-3. As for Holbrook, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-6.

Monument Valley suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to Holbrook in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Monument Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
