Football Recap: Riverside Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Riverside had lost four straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it five. They were outmatched by the Huntingdon Mustangs and fell 49-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Panthers were not able to get on the board.

Merrel Perez threw for 91 yards on six of 17 attempts.

As for Huntingdon, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-1. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won six matchups by 20 points or more so far this season.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Kenton Smith and Zayden Connelly. Smith rushed for 19 yards and one touchdown while Connelly picked up 80 receiving yards and one score. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget K'Shun Carter, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverside will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Scotts Hill at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. The Panthers will be up against the Lions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 38.71 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Huntingdon, they will host Harpeth at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
