Football Recap: Long Creek Comes Up Short

Long Creek made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Marion, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Dragons fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 45-42 on Thursday. The Dragons lost against the Bulldogs in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 42-6 score last time.

Kade Pape was a one-man wrecking crew For Marion. as he threw for 252 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 104 yards and one TD on only ten carries. That's the most passing touchdowns Pape has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tanner Otis, who rushed for 110 yards and one score.

Long Creek's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Marion, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Long Creek will take on Crockett at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Marion, they will face off against Gonzales at 7:00 p.m. on the 12th.
