Baseball Recap: Walsingham Academy Takes Down Broadwater Academy in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Walsingham Academy had no problem doing just that on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Broadwater Academy Vikings. Considering the Trojans have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Walsingham Academy got a massive performance out of Evan Blinn, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave Blinn a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Ferrie, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Walsingham Academy is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 16 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-10-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Broadwater Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-12-1 record this season.
