Football Recap: Joshua Mansfield and Anthony Pollock Pace Atlantic Defense

Atlantic was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They fell 18-6 to the Eagle's View Warriors.

Even if they lost, Atlantic's defense still kept up the pressure with four sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Joshua Mansfield and Anthony Pollock, who racked up all four sacks between them. Mansfield also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 11. Carlos Smith III was another major factor on D, making nine total tackles and defending two passes in addition to snagging an interception.

Ethan Garland produced another solid effort picking up 102 receiving yards and one score, while also rushing for 71 yards and one TD on only nine carries for Eagle's View. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 70 yards.

Atlantic's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Eagle's View, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Atlantic will take on Lake Weir at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Eagle's View, they will be playing at home against Mount Dora Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Warriors 13, the Bulldogs 9.2) so any points scored will be well earned.
