Basketball Recap: Georgia-Cumberland Academy Takes a Loss

If Georgia-Cumberland Academy was feeling good fresh off their 70-49 takedown of Collegedale Academy last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Georgia-Cumberland Academy Jaguars were beaten by the New Faith Christian Academy Titans 111-49 on Thursday. The game marked the Jaguars' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Despite the loss, Georgia-Cumberland Academy still got an impressive performance from Austin Samms, who posted 17 points. Samms continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Teige Robinson was another key player, putting up nine points.

New Faith Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Landen Render, who made all 13 shots he took to post 31 points along with five boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Harry Egbayelo, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 22 rebounds.

With the defeat, Georgia-Cumberland Academy broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-3. As for New Faith Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 8-6 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Georgia-Cumberland Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 83-76 win against Georgia Force Christian on the 16th. As for New Faith Christian Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-50 victory against Salem on the 13th.
