Recap: Doddridge County Bulldogs vs. Braxton County Eagles
The Doddridge County Bulldogs came tearing into Friday's match with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down Braxton County 76-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Doddridge County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Landon Thomas, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Thomas has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brandon Hileman, who scored 25 points.
Despite the defeat, Braxton County had strong showings from Steve Boggs, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds, and Landon Stewart, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Stewart is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Toler, who scored nine points along with five assists and two steals.
Doddridge County's win bumped their record up to 10-3. As for Braxton County, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-11.
Doddridge County will face off against Cameron at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Doddridge County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 62.2 points per game this season. As for Braxton County, they will head out on the road to square off against Webster County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Webster County is coming into the game with five straight wins at home, so Braxton County is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum.
