Basketball Recap: Everton Tigers vs. Bronaugh Wildcats

Everton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They lost 67-42 to the Bronaugh Wildcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tigers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 76-41 two weeks ago.

Despite the loss, Everton saw an underclassman step up: freshman Leiden Wilson posted seven points and seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was James Grisham, who went 6 for 14 on his way to 13 points and eight boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bronaugh to victory, but perhaps none more so than Strauss Banes, who almost dropped a triple-double on 22 points, nine rebounds, and 12 steals. That's the most steals Banes has posted since back in November of 2023. Colter Banes was another key player, going 9 of 22 en route to 19 points in addition to eight boards and five steals.

Everton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Bronaugh, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Everton will face off against McAuley Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bronaugh has already played their next game, a 74-63 loss against Golden City on the 16th.
