Volleyball Recap: Maryvale Takes a Loss

Maryvale lost against La Joya Community back in October of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Panthers came up short against the Fighting Lobos, falling 3-0. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Maryvale took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-23, 26-24.

Viridiana Trejo Rios paced Maryvale's offense, picking up four kills. Trejo Rios got some help from Melissa Higuera and her eight assists. Alexa Zamaniego controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Maryvale's loss dropped their record down to 3-11. As for La Joya Community, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season.

Maryvale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Browne on the 23rd. As for La Joya Community, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 3-0 victory against Copper Canyon on the 22nd.
