Baseball Recap: Spring Valley Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Spring Valley entered their tilt with Huntington on Wednesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 12-5 margin over the Highlanders. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Cole Ferguson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Cam Perdue, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Spring Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Spring Valley pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Huntington, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Spring Valley will face off against Bridgeport at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. As for Huntington, they will welcome John Marshall at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. John Marshall will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Huntington surely won't give up without a fight.
