Basketball Game Preview: Rivercrest Rebels vs. CHAAMP HomeSchool Hawks

The Rivercrest Rebels will take on the CHAAMP HomeSchool Hawks in a tournament on Thursday. Rivercrest is looking for their season's first victory.

On Tuesday, Rivercrest was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-48 to Honey Grove.

Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but CHAAMP HomeSchool ultimately got the result they hoped for last Tuesday. They walked away with an 80-72 win over Daingerfield. The Hawks' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

CHAAMP HomeSchool's win came from a few key players Rivercrest will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bradon Wafford, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 18 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Those 18 points gave him a new career-high. Caleb Carlisle was another key player, going 8-for-15 en route to 18 points.

The victory made it two in a row for CHAAMP HomeSchool and bumps their season record up to 4-8. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points over those games. As for Rivercrest, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.

Everything came up roses for Rivercrest against CHAAMP HomeSchool when the teams last played back in December of 2019, as the team secured a 91-41 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Hawks' John Luke Angier, who shot 57% from the field on his way to 18 points and six boards.
