Basketball Recap: Academy for Classical Education's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

After flying high against Jordan last Monday, Academy for Classical Education came back down to earth. The Gryphons took a 69-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Jefferson County Warriors on Tuesday. The loss was the Gryphons' first of the season.

Despite the loss, Academy for Classical Education still got an impressive performance from Camden Bailey, who shot 43% from the field to rack up 16 points and five steals. The contest was Bailey's fourth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Perry, who went 5-for-9 en route to 11 points and five rebounds.

Jordan Kitchens had an outrageously good game for Jefferson County as he dropped a double-double with 24 points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Kitchens a new career-high in assists (four). AJ Bush was another key player, putting up ten points along with seven rebounds and five assists.

Having lost for the first time this season, Academy for Classical Education fell to 3-1. As for Jefferson County, the win got them back to even at 3-3.

Looking ahead, Academy for Classical Education will look to defend their home court on Friday against East Laurens at 7:30 p.m. The Gryphons' defense better be ready for this one: the Falcons have averaged an impressive 66.5 points per game this season. As for Jefferson County, they will venture away from home to face off against Bleckley County at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
