Recap: Columbia Eagles vs. Athens Golden Eagles
This season hasn't been kind to The Columbia Eagles, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They took a serious blow against Athens on Friday, falling 49-14. Columbia has struggled against Athens recently, as their match on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Athens' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was JayShon Ridgle, who picked up 120 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Another big playmaker for Athens was Caiden Dumas, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Columbia's loss was their ninth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. As for Athens, they will face off against Fort Payne at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Dax Varnadore and Brogan Gross.
