Basketball Recap: Evans Falls Short of New Manchester in the Playoffs

Evans and New Manchester squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Evans had to settle for second. They took a hard 64-48 fall against the New Manchester Jaguar.

Despite the loss, Evans saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Chabria Tate dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds. The match was Tate's sixth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Kimariya Hinton, who posted five points and nine boards.

Even though they lost, Evans smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Evans' defeat dropped their record down to 24-4. As for New Manchester, they pushed their record up to 23-5 with the victory, which was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season.

Evans does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for New Manchester, they will square off against Coffee at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Coffee has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
