The Havelock Rams will take on the Jacksonville Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Jacksonville took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Havelock, who comes in off a win.
Havelock headed into their last game having not scored more than two runs for four straight, but Northside - Jacksonville let them put that streak behind them. The Rams' pitcher stepped up to hand the Monarchs a 27-0 shutout on Wednesday. The Rams' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Cassidee Moulton was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Madeline Grant was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Carolina Jenkins was another key player, scoring four runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Havelock always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .829. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Jacksonville fought the good fight in their extra-innings matchup against J.H. Rose on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Rampants by a score of 4-3. The Cardinals' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Lauren Weston spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on ten hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jacksonville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kendall Kellum, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
Jacksonville's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Havelock, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-8.
