Voyager Academy is 0-10 against Vance Charter since April of 2018 but things could change on Tuesday. The Vikings will head out to face off against the Knights at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Voyager Academy will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Monday, then bounced right back against Durham Academy on Friday. The Vikings never let the Cavaliers get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Vikings' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Cameron Nelson and Ella Bartes made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Nelson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Bartes tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Nelson went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Bartes went 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Those runs marked the first that Nelson has scored this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maleyva Pardo, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those RBI were her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Burton, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
Voyager Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Vance Charter came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Griffins by a score of 3-0.
Leah Rice made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, Dakota Dickerson was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024.
Vance Charter pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Voyager Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-6.
Voyager Academy might still be hurting after the 18-2 loss they got from Vance Charter when the teams last played back in March. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
