Basketball Recap: GVCS Broadfording Takes a Loss

GVCS Broadfording played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt an 80-50 defeat at the hands of the Mercersburg Academy Blue Storm. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 70-38 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

GVCS Broadfording lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Fernando Garcia, who posted 13 points. Garcia is also crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Nashon Mann was another key player, putting up 13 points and three steals.

GVCS Broadfording moved to 4-3 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Mercersburg Academy, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-2.

GVCS Broadfording will take on Grace Academy in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mercersburg Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Episcopal at 5:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
