Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Mendez walked away with it. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the King/Drew Golden Eagles 3-2. The victory was familiar territory for the Jaguars, who have now won five contests in a row.

When it comes to explaining why King/Drew lost on Thursday, don't look at Kennedy De La Garza. Despite the final result, she had 36 digs and five aces.

Mendez's win bumped their record up to 24-9. As for King/Drew, their loss dropped their record down to 19-8.

Looking ahead, after both having extra time off, Mendez and Maywood CES will shake off the rust and duke it out at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. King/Drew does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
