The Legacy Longhorns will face off against the Cimarron-Memorial Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Legacy has three straight victories, Cimarron-Memorial has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Legacy will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Desert Oasis, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. Legacy blew past Desert Oasis 16-1 on Friday.
Elena Rodriguez made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Rodriguez was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Legacy got a massive performance out of Madison Castellon, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Victoria Beebe was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Legacy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .577. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.
Meanwhile, Cimarron-Memorial fell victim to Bishop Gorman and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They lost 22-0 to the Gaels.
Legacy's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Cimarron-Memorial, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Legacy hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Cimarron-Memorial struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Legacy took their victory against Cimarron-Memorial in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-6. Will Legacy repeat their success, or does Cimarron-Memorial has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
