Soccer Recap: Sonora Takes a Loss

On Friday, the Sonora Wildcats came up short against the Ripon Christian Knights and fell 5-3. Samuel Villafana probably wasn't too happy after the game: he scored every single goal for the Wildcats and still walked away on the losing team.

Sonora has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-10 record this season. As for Ripon Christian, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-3-2 and their overall record up to 6-4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Sonora challenge the Escalon at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Escalon's last three contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Ripon Christian, they will challenge Hilmar at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Ripon Christian knows how to get goals on the board -- the squad has finished with four goals or more in their past three games -- so hopefully Hilmar likes a good challenge.
