Softball Recap: Lake Shore Shorians vs. Rochester Falcons
After only two runs in their last matchup, Lake Shore made sure to put some runs up on the board against Rochester on Friday. The Shorians put the hurt on the Falcons with a sharp 13-2 win. With that victory, the Shorians brought their scoring average up to 7.5 runs per game.
Sophia VanDenstorm made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 16 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one double.
In other batting news, Lake Shore got a massive performance out of Kendra Damm, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. That home run marked the first that Damm launched this season. Makayla Blumenschein was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
Lake Shore kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
