Highly touted Dwyer quarterback will announce Friday, while Coffman will assess the situation in the coming hours and days.

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- Jacoby Brissett, the MaxPreps 10th-rated combo quarterback from Dwyer (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) who had not announced his college decision before National Signing Day, said Wednesday morning that he will delay his announcement until Friday.

Brissett said during a signing ceremony at Dwyer that he plans to divulge his decision during halftime of Dwyer's final regular-season home basketball game Friday night against neighboring rival Jupiter. The 6-foot-5, 225-pound senior also is an outstanding basketball player and has said he also would like to play basketball at the college level. However, Brissett said that his decision strictly will revolve around football.

"It gives me a couple more days to think about it and be sure about my decision," Brissett said of his decision to wait until Friday to announce. "And I want the basketball team to be a part of it. They've played a big part in my success also."

Brissett has narrowed his choices to Miami, Washington and Wisconsin. He said Wednesday that he is "60-40" in his decision but would not hint where he might be leaning. However, Dwyer coach Jack Daniels said he believes his star quarterback might be leaning toward Miami and that he thinks Washington might be out of the equation.

Also, courtesy of correspondent Dean Backes in Missouri, Raymore-Peculiar (Peculiar, Mo.) quarterback Cameron Coffman is in wait and see mode at this point in time in the 2011 football recruiting process.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pounder was thought to be leaning toward committing to Arizona State at one point. But Coffman, the 17th ranked Combo Passer in MaxPreps' Top 25, has no offers at this point after holding nine early in the recruiting process.

Coffman led the Panthers to a Class 6, District 8 runner-up finish and a berth in the Missouri Big School state football playoffs before falling 49-28 to Blue Springs in the opening round.

The Class 6 first team all-state selection threw for 3,267 yards and 25 touchdowns on 240 of 391 passing during his final campaign with the Panthers. Coffman ran for another 472 yards and seven scores.

Raymore-Peculiar coach Tom Kruse said Wednesday morning that Coffman had the impression that he would receive an offer from Alabama. But no offer has been tendered.

"He's going to wait and see who signs with what schools," Kruse said of Coffman's next move. "If he has to, he'll contact junior colleges and some Division-1AA schools have shown a lot of interest. Heck, he is a D-1 athlete. We just have to find him a spot. Someone will get a good one."
