Baseball Game Preview: Archbishop Mitty Monarchs vs. Saint Francis Lancers

For the second straight game, Archbishop Mitty will face off against Saint Francis. The Monarchs will head out on the road to square off against the Lancers at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Archbishop Mitty had taken Saint Francis down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Monarchs took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lancers. The Monarchs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Saint Francis' part, Nick Chow spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up six Ks. Chow has been consistent for a while: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Gino Cappellazzo was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Bobby Hill, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Saint Francis is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.5 runs over those games. As for Archbishop Mitty, they now have a losing record of 11-12.
