Softball Game Preview: Mt. Markham Mustangs vs. Canastota Red Raiders

Mt. Markham is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Monday. They will venture away from home to square off against the Canastota Red Raiders at 4:30 p.m. Mt. Markham's pitching crew has only allowed 1.5 runs per game this season, so Canastota's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Last Friday, Mt. Markham didn't have quite enough to beat Little Falls and fell 3-1. The Mustangs haven't had much luck with the Mounties recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Canastota's offense. They lost 12-0 to Adirondack on Friday.

Canastota dropped their record down to 2-2 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mt. Markham, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Mt. Markham beat Canastota 8-5 when the teams last played back in April of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
