Softball Recap: Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They blew past the Cumberland Dukes 11-1. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by seven runs or more this season.

Sophia Peterson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association let Aubrey Edmonds and Carlie Anderson run wild. Edmonds went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI, while Anderson went 3-for-4 with one home run. That's the most hits Anderson has posted since back in March. Reagan Litchford was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in eight consecutive matches.

Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Cumberland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10.
